ULSTER WANTS NO COMPROPROMISE. LONDON, Juno 14. The debate on the amendment morel by the Hon. T. C. R. Agar-Ro-bartes has-opened. The Rt. Hon. Sir Edward H. Carson, K.C., Unionist Member for Dublin University declared that Ulster would not accept a compromise. Even if the four counties mentioned were omitted they would still oppose Home Rule for the rest of Ireland. Mr. John Redmond declared the amendment was a wrecking one. The four counties were not homogeneous and one-third of their population were Catholics. Ho regarded the idea of V/iwo nations in Ireland as revolting and hateful.

Balfour, late Leader of tho Opposition, speaking at Pieston, declared that the Home Rule Bill would not relieve tho House of Commons of the Irish questions.' But Parliament would find itself in conflict with its Dublin offspring. It was madness to give national organisation without'national powers. Mr. Balfour predicted that after suffering frici'
the Irish would revert to the Union which they were now so rashly leaving.
