TWO ELDERLY LADIES’ CLOSE CALL.

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. By an outbreak of fire in a house at the corner of Barbadoes and Hereford Street! to-night, two elderly ladies, Miss Williamson, aged 77, and Miss Henry, aged 68, were badly burned and were taken to the hospital.

The fire started in a wardrobe and the old ladies, whose eyesight is poor, found it difficult to get out of the house. ’

Their cries attracted a passerby who jumped through a window and led them out.
