THE NEW ZEALAND LOAN.
STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER. TO PAY OFF OLD LOANS. [PER PUSS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT WELLINGTON, June 11. Reference to tho loan of .£1,500,000 which the New Zealand Government is raising, was made by the Premier in an interview with a Post representative to-day.
The loan, Mr. Mackenzie said, was principally for repaying old loans maiming. Advances had already been received in anticipation of receiving authorised loans and for payment of the Dieadno’ught. Full details would ho given to Parliament at the earliest opportunity.
“I have -ho observation to make in regard to the loan,” added Mr. Mackenzie, “beyond this: that the money is required and it is being raised on the best terms that we can raise it on. Of course, no matter what is done faults will be found; indeed, faultfinding has been raised to such a state in this country that it at times interferes with the best being done.”
