The man alleged that she had gone to Maritius, hut later he announced her death. Gaubert then married Antonia Sidolles, a village girl, who had left her home. During repairs to Gauhert’s house, workmen noticed that some of the tiles in the scullery were'uneven, and on fur ther examination they discovered tiie body of the missing woman, Eliza. Gaubert states that Eliza and lie had a violent altercation over Antonia, when she suddenly dropped dead and that, fearing arrest, he buried the body
