. London Hospital, right in the most congested part of London, admits considerably more than a thousand patients every day, has over one thousand beds always full, between 500 and 600 nurses on the staff and is such an immense institution that scores, nay hundreds of medical students have spent from sto 7 years there taking their degrees, and yet have never been over the whole of the premises. It is from this quarter that the poor children will be taken to enjoy a day’s fresh air and a view of green fields on Coronation Day. In a letter received by his mother only last week, Mr. Alan Adams, of Grcymouth, who is at the' Medical College, says: “Since I last wrote I have been out with one of the fellows on midder cases, and got my first real experience of EastEnd poverty. The place was practically bare and when some milk was wanted to give to the woman there was not a drop in the house, no money to get anything and the husband out of work, so I had to give them a few’ coppers to get some. They get a card signed by one of us and are able to procure necessary articles, for a fortnight, at the expense of the Hospital.”
