HOWARD SALTER WILLIAMS. It is with a sense of deep regret that q?If!! ECO w n tho dent , h of Mr. Howard oaltej A\ ilhams, who passed away at ins mothers residence, Revell Street, yesterday and the feeling of sorrow will be shared by very many friends . throughout the West Coast by whom -the deceased gentleman was held in the highest esteem. His death removes' nom our midst one whose kindly nnture and honourable character gained nun the friendship and admiration of everyone who knew him. Though only in his .Lth year, the late Mr. Williams had not enjoyed robust health for a considerable time, but recently his condition suddenly became more serious and gradually grew worse, until death intervened yesterday. He was formerly an officer of the N-f ; nal Bank, having been stationed byJi hero and at ureymouth, as well as in other branches, but he was prevented by ill health from continuing those duties, and returned some years ago to live with his leiatives, since when ho had been elided with a mercantile firm in Hokitika from time to time. He was at one time a leading cricketer, being known as a steady batsman, while latterly he bad been a popular member of the local Bowling Club. Besides his mother, lie leaves a sister and three brothers, one of whom is Mr W. E. Williams, the wellkiiotMi chemist. To them the heartfelt sympathy of the community will be oxtended in their bereavement.

The death is recorded of a very old and highly respected Ross resident, Mr. Antonia Traversi, who passed aafter a lengthy illness at the nge oi 1 9 years. Deceased, who was ah old identity of Ross, leaves a widow, a daughter residing in the North Island, and two sons, Messrs A. and F. L. traversi, the latter being a leading bandmaster in England. Deceased is also survived by his brother Mr. B. Traversi.
