EFFECT OF A GUST OF WIND.

GIRL LIFTED 2 FEET INTO THE AIR.

BRADFORD, March 15.

Ah extraordinary- fatality took place at Bradford this morning, when a school girl, named Mary Bailey, aged 16j years, the daughter of an electrician, of Folkestone Street, was lifted off her feet_ by a terrific gust of wind to a great height and then dashed to the concrete, 'sustaining injuries from which .she died, soon afterwards. , Hanson Higher Grade School, Barkererid Road, is situated in one of .the most windy, districts of the city. Mis Bailey arrived at the school in good time, and; after taking off her, jacket and putting her books in order, went into the schoolyard. No one seems to have actually seen her lifted from the ground, but before she was dash'ed to the ground she was -observed high up in the air by a. passer-: by. ■ Her arms, he said, were;:: outstretched, ... and -her skirts distended by . the r wind. : Then she was suddenly whirled.- round and fell abruptly-; to the ground ,a distance of fully twenty feet. Without a moment’s delay, he rushed for assistance, and Dr> Etyan soon arrived. -.
