BIG FLOODS IN QUEENSLAND.

[PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPTBIGHT J BRISBANE, March 21 .-Heavy rain has caused Hoods in the Bowen and Rockhampton districts. There are a number of railway washaways. BRISBANE, March 22. The Fitzroy river at Rockhampton is in high Hood. Sixteen inches of rain lias fallen during the present month. The low lying parts of the' town are inundated. The residents are removing from their houses. The wharves an covered witli much-damaged goods. The Hoods caused great destruction in the surrounding districts. Set era! mining dams were swept away, and the tiain service is disorganised. The waters are still rising. The township is largely under water at McKay. Over a hundred inches of rain has fallen since the beginning of the year at Port Darwin.
