THE NEW ZEALAND DREADNOUGHT.

WELLINGTON, March 19—The tender of the Fairfield Company of London and Clyde at £852,999 has been accepted for building the New Zealand Dreadnought. The auxiliary machinery will cost £22,000 more. The contract time is 24 months.

PROPOSED BUTTER FACTORY. ASHBURTON, March 20. —At a weli-attcnded meeting to-day as the outcome of the meeting held here three weeks ago, and a vigorous canvass since made of the country districts it was unanimously resolved, “That a co-operative limited liability company should be formed with the object of erecting a central butter factory at Ashburton and creameries where sufficient inducement is offered.” The capital of the company was fixed at £SOOO and Hugo Friedlander was elected chairman.
