NAPIER PARK RACES NAPIER, March 16
The so was fine weather to-day for the first day of the Napier Park Racing Club’s Cup meeting. The course was in good order and the attendance fair. Nine bookmakers were licensed. The sum of £5,356 was put through the machines, against £5581 on the first day of last year. The following are the results :
Omaranui Hack Hurdles, 1J miles ■ - Polyanthus 1, Forest 2. These wenthe only starters.
Esk Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs.— Omani 1, Fort William 2, Ban do! wo 3.
Napier Cup, 1J miles—Parable ], Woodhey 2, Bridge 3. A great lace. Parable won by a neck after being bard ridden from the distance.
Trial Hack Stakes, 6 furlongs. - Bunkum 1, Reformist 2, Useful 3. Won on the post. Welter Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Wimmera 1, Ballyheigh 2, Golden Wat,a 3. Sapling Stakes Handicap, 5 furlongs Birkdale 1, Sea Eagle 2, War Song 3. Redclyffe Hack Welter, one mile.— Obscurity 1, King’s Prize 2, Amo 1 / 3. Flying Hack, six furlongs—M i idle 1, Ambala 2, Maori King 3.
