WAIROA, June 22.— Two lads named Johnson and Pinucane who were out shooting on Sunday in a boat were returning when the latter ' pulfed out a gun which exploded and shot Johnson through the thigh fortunately missing the femoral artery. THE BISHOP OF WAIPU. WAIROA, June 22.— About SO Maoris and Europeans bads farewell last night in the theatre to the Bishop of Waipu who is retiring after half a century's Church work. He was presented with an address by Paoranakau, a native as old as the Bishop speaking in Maori. The Bishop thanked both races and contrasted the presecnt state of the district with old days. He also addressed the natives in Maori.
