PRESS DELEGATES.

VISIT TO GLASGOW. [PXB PRESS ASSOCIATION. — COPTBIG3T ] LONDON, June 22.— The press delegates are at present the guests of the Glasgow Corporation. Yesterday despite wet weather, they spent an interesting and enjoyable time. The party inspected the North British Locomotive Works, where there are eight thousand men employed. Later the delegates joined the ladies in a steamer trip on the Clyde The Lord Porvost and many Glasgow notabilities were aboard. The steamer visited the Fairfield shipyard, where the Australian destroyers are being built. The Australian members of the company and Mr Collins boarded the destroyers, and, standing on their keels, cheered Australia's future navy. Continuing the cruise, the steamer visited the Clyde yachting carnival. In the afternoon the party visited Glasgow University. Vice-Chancellor MacAlister conferred degrees on six of the delegates who were attired in scarlet robes. The Marquis of Bute, in the presence of a large gathering, referred to the degrees as a tribute rendered to the British press throughout the world. Mr Mac Donald thanked the university. In the evening the Corporation gave the visitors a dinner which was held in the City Chambers.
