A meeting of the Managemant Committee of tbe N.Z. Rugby Union was held this evening, A letter was read from the Wanganui Rugby Union asking thatita match with Auckland bd approved 83 an ordinary challenge match for tbe Ranfnrly Shield. This was accaded to. The question of the Auckland Hawke< Bay match at Auckland ou August 10th having been declared a special challenge mateb again came np for consideration. The Committee have doclared that the match be a special challenge, tbeHawke'a Bay Union being allowed transit expenses for seasonable number of players from Napier to Auckland ajd back t > Napier, It was decided te ask the South Canterbury Union for further information about the player who was dieqm lified till the end of 1908 foi being drunk ou the field of play, it being thought that the sentence on this person was too lenient.
