WEST COAST RETURNS

Dredging promises to be bettei this year than las'-, although the published returns may not be more. A number of private dredges are now doing well, Cornwall and Greenstone Creek being two notable instances. The Nelson Creek division will certainly turn out a good deal of gold this year, tbe Pactolus Company heading aasily. Last weeejk's return was 263 ozs from the two dredge 3, the wash at the end of the week being tie best yet touched. The new Trafalgar got 280z3 and is upon improving wiu>h. This dredge is almost certain to strike the game run of rich gold as was got by the Pactolus two years ago. Jamieson's Reward is in rather poor, mixed ground at present, but must strike cross lead before maDy weeks. This company will possibly buy a small piece of the Pactolus ground in order to be able to work to batter advantage. Nelson Cretk ia not looking very promising at present, The general opinion is that the dredge is near the top boundary of the present wash, although many believe that in the two side creeks good payable ground will be struck. Blackwater River got 49ozs. As the dredge is approaching the thicker part of the lead, an increased yield is t-xpected. No Town got 43oz< tor 129 b«urs work. Present appearances are satis* factory.
