FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE

At the Fire Brigade Conference the following officers were elected :—President, Capt Bellringer (New Plymouth) ; Vice President*, Secy. Gilberd, Supt. Lucas. At tbe Fire Brigades' Conference this afternoon the delegate! subscribed to present a chair tbe Nelson Hospital. The Brigades' Accident Assurance Society met. The report showed tbe receipts since last meeting totalled £1085, including a balance brought forward. The expenditure totalled £114 14i>, of which £101 was paid in accident claims, against £257 the previous year: The profit" for the year were nearly £90. An amendment scale of contributions was adopted. The Committee reported that the claim of the Reefton Brigade on behalf of Fireman Potts for accident allowance could not be entertained.— Adopted. Tbe Secretary, Mr Scantlebury, of Reefton, was elected President, Messrs King and Boyes (Nelson) Vice-Presi-de aU. Mr Giiberd, of Napier, wts reelected Treasurer, also Secretary, and M#asrs Garner and Hodgson auditors.
