REEFTON RACES.

There was a glorious day aud a very large attendance at the races. The first train from Hokitika and Greymouth was packed with passengers and ran right through, not stopping to pick up the people waiting at the stations on the way. A second train was dispatched 20 minutes afterwards and this also was filled Tho fields were fair and some of the races very good, some very close finishes ensuing. The following were the results :—: — Hurdles, £45, l^niile — Clarence, 1; Cyius, 2; Couranto, 3. Div. £1 18s. Produce Stakes, £30, f mile — National, 1; Benmore, 2; Silver Rose,' 3. A good nice. Won by half a length. Div. £5 12. Hack Race, £15, 1 mile— Cactus, 1; Token, 2; Georgina, 3. Won by a neck. Div. £1 9s. Inangahua Cup. Haria, Bst lOlbs 1 Epaulet, 9st 81bs 2 Surrey, 6at 71bs - 3 Six started. A good race, all together for most of' the journey. The Miser tailed off last. Div. £1 Is. Post Handicap, of £15, 7 furlongs— Shylock, 1 ; Georgina, 2. Only two starters. Won easily. . Midland Railway Handicap, £50, 1 mile — Bisley and Bona Fide a dead heat ; Frenchy third. Silver Rose and Slaiden also Btarted. A good finish. The last race was just starting when the train left.
