London, July 21. * In the shooting for the first stage of the Queen's prize Sergeants Will and Scott tied for the Bronze medal, with record scores of 102. There were also two scores of 101, aud twelve of 100. Of two thousand competitors, 291 who scored 94 and over, are included in the 300 who compete in the next stage. The remaining nine places will be shot for by the 100 riflemen who scored 4)3. At Bisley Bombarder Carter, Victoria, tied with five others for St George's Challenge Vase, which, after the Queen's, prize, is the principal volunteer competition. Sixty-nine competitors made the highest possibles at 600 yard?; Ballinger N.Z, with 66 and Downie Victoria 65 also made possibles at that range. The, prizes in Martin's Cup were won by Downie, with 32 ; Fargher, Victoria, 31; Harris and Simpson, N:Z. 30. Thephenonenal scoring throughout the meeting has given rise to the suggestion that the bull's eye should be made smaller or should contain a central ring of a higher value. .
