THE KOLAPORE CUP. London, July 17. The scores in the Kolapore contest were:— Victoria, 751; New^Zealand, 748; England, 732 ; Canada and Cape Colony, 731 each ;'' Guernsey, 727 ; Natal, 721, India 670; Queensland, 688. The following 'are the individual New Zealand scores^— Hawthorn, 97,Willia'ms 9G ; Banks'^ Howe, 95 each ; Simpson] Billinger and Webster, 93 each; King, 85 Rangfftotalspi- 2Coyds, Victoria, 253; New Zealand, 247 ; 500yds— New Zealand, 265 ; 259 ;' 600yds— Victoria, 239 ; New<Zeala_d, ? 236. The New Zealanders did the finest work of the day at the 600 yards ;^o we, Hawthorn, Banks, Grummett, and Walker, each scored 34 out of a possible 3£ It was a neck and neck contest. With but two shots to fire the New Zealand team required' nine points to win. Immense 'excitement prevailed. King was the rifleman engaged at the firing point. In his final shots he made a magpie and an outer, the elevation ml each, case being excellent, but' the windage badly judged. The Victorians exhibited better judgment in dealing with a tricky wind and their victory was hailed with the greatest enthusiasm. Major Sommerville admitted the New iZealanders were defeated in a fair fight. The Victorian scopes in the Kolapore contest were : — Todd and Sloane, 97 each; Carter, 95 ; Ross, Hawker, and Fargher, 94 each ; Grummet, 91 ; Walker, -89. The best score in the competition was made by Dunlop, First Lanarkshire Volunteers, with a total of 98 at tne 500 yds range. On the result being announced the Victorians were heartily cheered by the other competing teams and warmly shook hands with Colonel Templeton and LieutCol. Kelly. The Queensland team proposed three cheers for the Victorians and Colonel Templeton called for three cheer 3 for the New Zealanders. ■At the Bisley meeting, Sergt. Whitehead, Staffordshire Regiment, won the Imperial prize, value £100, open to all naval and- military branches, including ludia and the Colonies. The Colonials won a number of minor money prizes in the Imperial, and Prince of Wales prizes, Pixley ccfodpift&bd^Wimbleddn Gup and iudiauand Colonial contests: i •; ;v '- - ■
