POULTRY SHOWS

Nelson, July 15. The Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association's 10th annual show was opened to-night by the Mayor. The show is the best yet held, both in regard to quality and number, ths exhibits exceeding by fifty the best previous year. Mr Dacre of Christchurch, was judge throughout, The following are the local prize takers — J. King, Andalusians, third cockerel, first pullet, also two seconds and third in pigeon class. D. J. Evans one third in pigeon class A Bennot, first dark Dorkiugs cockerel, first dark Dorkiug pullet. Arthur Mahan Ist and special light Brahma hen, third game selling class; second and third rosecomb bantam hen. J. Keller, Ist, black Orpington cock or cockerel. C. A. Barton, second black Orpington cock or cockerel; first hen or pullet, same class. J. J. Breeze in Old English game classes secured Ist black red cockerel, first white cock or cockerel, first black heu or pullet, third any variety game cock or cockerel, 2nd any variety game hen or pullet. Poultry Shew are not to hand and in consequence the judging for a number of classes will not be finished till to-morrow. The total entries were 1078. There was a splendid display of poultry, pigeons and canaries staged at the show from all parts of the colony. The show was the grestest success achieved. Mr A. H. Nathan, th&President, opened the show. The Mayor was also present. The visiti&g birds took a number of prizes.
