London, Jan. 3. Sir Herbert Bruce Sandford, K. T. Bachel, and Roger T. Goldsworthy, C.M.G., formerly Colonial Secretary or Western Australia, now Governor of British Honduras, have been created Knights Commanders of St Michael and St George. It is rumored Princess Louise of Wales is engaged to Lord Fife. It is expected the committee of National Defence will recommend the immediate construction of many iron* clads and fast cruisers for the purpose of bringing up the navy to an adequate strength. It is reported that it is intended to divide the See of Rochester, Dr Barry, ex-Bishop of Sydney, receiving the new bishopric, to be known as the diocese of Southwark. Washington, Dec. 3. A member named Springer has introduced a bill into Congress extending the Presidential term of office from four to six years, but making a man once chosen President ineligible for re-elec-tion. Belgrade, Jan. 4. The King of Servia has granted a general amnesty, and dissolved the Skuptschina.
