BEACH V. HANLAN.
Beach has been interviewed at Dapto, regarding the sculling match between him and Hani an in November. Beach is of opinion tbat Hanlan will arrive in September, and that his victory over Gaudaur will enable the ex-charapion to leave America with a little more confidence in his own capabilities. Beach says he can row as fast as Hanlan in smooth water probably faster, and that he has not the slightest fear regarding the result of the race. He further states that he will not row against Hanlan unless he is in good health at the time. Beach says that Hanlan has not treated the sporting men of New South Wales as they deserve to be treated considering that the exschampion received such a good welcome when he arrived at Sydney, and was so well received by the people of New South Wales generally. Beach continued — " Our people do not like the way Hanlan has treated them. Since he has taken his departure from the Colony he has not acted a3 we thought he would. You know it does not look well to have this next race rowed here on the Nepean, the stake-holders being in England and the referee in Melbourne. However, I am ready to row for the honor of the Colony, against him or any other oarsman in America or the Old Country." Beach intends to take up his quarters on the Nepean in September, when he will go into training for the approaching struggle. He will be looked after by Peter Kemp, and will row in the boat built for him by Clasper, in which he won several races at home. The champion hopes to see a number of English and American scullers in New South Wales towards the end of the year and says that he will make matches wkh any or all who may wish to try conclusions with him.
