In the Assembly last night a vote want of confidence in the financial proposals of the Government was rejected on a division by a majority of five. . (Received August 1, 2 a.m.) «• Sydney, July 31. A eerioua fire occurred to-day in George street, Syduey, in the premies of Lloyd aud Jones, mercers ; Kerry and Jones, photogiaphers; and Ferraris, wine shop. The total damage is £30,000. Lloyd aud Jones' loss, £25,000, their insurances are as follows; — Commercial Uniou, £3000; London and Lancashire, £1500; Stau* dardof N.Z., £1000; Equitable, £looo; Scottish Union and National, £2000 ; South Australian, £500 ; Australian Mercantile, £1500 ; New South Wales Co-operative, £1000; Royal. £1000; National of New Zealand, £1000. Kerry and Jones are insured in the Union Company of New Zealand for £1600 ; South British, £600 ; New Zealand Co., £600. Ferraris is insured in the New Zealand Company for £1200. The premises destroyed are fully insured in the Norwich Union Company.
