NOTICES OF MOTION.

1. Mr M'Whirter to move, " That tlr's Conncil respectfully urge ou the Government the desirability of getting an Act passed for the total abolitiou of the gold duty."

2. The Chairman to move, " That it is desirable that the main and district roads (for the future), be maintained under contract, by public tender, and not (as hitherto) by day labor." 3. The Chairman to move, 4< That in accordance with the foregoing resolution the Engineer be instructed to prepare a schedule of main roads, and district roads in the Arahurs, Kanieri, and Totara ridings, dividing same into suitable seetiocs for letting by contract ; and that specifications for said contracts be prepared by next meeting." 4. Mr M'Goldrick to move, " That a line of track be cleared for about three miles up the river Waikukupa to avoid the gorge, and that Mr Butler be instructed to get the work done by day labor."

Mr Grimmond to move, tl That (inasmuch as a member of this Council has brought under the notice of the House of Representatives the extravagant payments made to members of tbe Council by way ot travelling expenses), a return be prepared showing the amounts paid annually to each member of the Council from the year 1879 up to date. Also the amounts paid during the same period, by way of salary and expenses, to each County Chairman during his year of office." 14, Mr Eose to move, " That tenders be invited by next meeting for widening the remaining section of the Kanieri Lake track."

17, Mr Grimmond to move, "That the Engineer be hatructed to keep the track to Cedar creek open for traffic by day labor, until the road now under contract, is completed." 18. Mr Jack to move, " That Mr Macfarlane be instructed to expend a sum of £16 in repairing the Okura track, Jacksons Bay."

19. Mr Jack to move, " That Mr Macfadane be requested to prepare specifications for the repair of the Waikato track." 20. Mr M'Goldrick to move, " r J hat tbe Government be respectfully asked to establish telephone communication between the police station, Okarito, and the telegraph office, Boss."
