NOTICES OF MOTION.

1. Mr M'Whirter to move, " That tlr's Conncil respectfully urge ou the Government the desirability of getting an Act passed for the total abolitiou of the gold duty."

2. The Chairman to move, " That it is desirable that the main and district roads (for the future), be maintained under contract, by public tender, and not (as hitherto) by day labor." 3. The Chairman to move, 4< That in accordance with the foregoing resolution the Engineer be instructed to prepare a schedule of main roads, and district roads in the Arahurs, Kanieri, and Totara ridings, dividing same into suitable seetiocs for letting by contract ; and that specifications for said contracts be prepared by next meeting." 4. The Chairman to move, " That the Council now fix tbe remuneration to be paid to Constable Hannan for acting as clerk of the Stafford Court."

5. The Chairman to move, " That plans and specifications be prepared and tenders invited by next meeting, for widening and improving the grade of the second hill, from the Kapitea creek, on the Greenstone road."

6. The Chairman to move, " That the Engineer prepare plans and s'pecificatiooa for raising six chains of crate protection, at the back of Goldoborough, by next meeting."

7: Mr Hirter to move'i " That a special meeting of the Council be held on Wednesday, the 12th November, at 4 o'clock p.m., for the purpose of altering rule 68 of the standing orders of this Council ; the alteration of the rule to read after the wfcrd *oh which the Council shall sit' ' before' the notices given for that day." 8,-MrM^Whirter to move, 'That the Engineer be instracted to raise the scrub wall protection work, at the back of Stafford— cost not to exceed £18 " 9. Mr M'Whirter to move, •« That the Engineer prepare plans and specifications for widening and altering the grades of the main road from Ku'mara Cemetery Hill to the top of Sandy's Hill." 10. Mr M'Wairter to move, "That tenders be invited for the extension of the Staffbrd-Lainplough track to the Kapitea creek in accordance with plans and specifications now on table."

11. Mr Camming to move, "That Humphreys Gully road from Harcourt'a to Olsen'a be widened to a dray road, and that Mr Kerr prepare plans and specifications for same, by next meeting." 12. Mr M'Goldrick to move, " That a line of track be cleared for about three miles up the river Waikukupa to avoid the gorge, and that Mr Butler be instructed to get the work done by day labor."

13. Mr Grimmond to move, tl That (inasmuch as a member of this Council has brought under the notice of the House of Representatives the extravagant payments made to members of tbe Council by way ot travelling expenses), a return be prepared showing the amounts paid annually to each member of the Council from the year 1879 up to date. Also the amounts paid during the same period, by way of salary and expenses, to each County Chairman during his year of office." 14, Mr Eose to move, " That tenders be invited by next meeting for widening the remaining section of the Kanieri Lake track."

15. Mr Rose to move, " That a sum of £18 be expended in protecting the south side of the Hokitika river bank, below Kanieri bridge." 16. Mr Grimmond to move, " That the County Chairman communica'Je with the Government and member foi tfie district, urging on them the necessity of making provision on the estimates for the speedy construction of a dray road to the reefs at Cedar Creek."

17, Mr Grimmond to move, "That the Engineer be hatructed to keep the track to Cedar creek open for traffic by day labor, until the road now under contract, is completed." 18. Mr Jack to move, " That Mr Macfarlane be instructed to expend a sum of £16 in repairing the Okura track, Jacksons Bay."

19. Mr Jack to move, " That Mr Macfadane be requested to prepare specifications for the repair of the Waikato track." 20. Mr M'Goldrick to move, " r J hat tbe Government be respectfully asked to establish telephone communication between the police station, Okarito, and the telegraph office, Boss."

21, Mr M'Goldrick to move, " That Mr Butler be requested to prepare specific itions for clearing, forming, and metalling about 70 chains of track from the end ot Doolen'B track, Bruce Bay, to the Mahitahi river bed."

22. Mr M'Goldrick to move, " That tbe Member, for the district be asked to get a Bum on the estimates for the construction of the road from the termination of Clarke'.cpntracf, to Gillespie's Beacb, also for construction of road from Mahitahi to Paringa river, to join the main south road ; also for construction of road from Bluu rivr road to sea teach."
