Tho trial of tbe dynamiters, Daly and Egan, on a charge of treason and felony, was concluded to day at Birmingham. The former was sentenced to penal servitude for life and Egan to twenty years imprisonment. Arrived — Garelock, from Lyttelton. Hong Kong, August 1.
JSo confirmation has yet transpired of tbe report that an agieement had beea come to between France and China.
The latest news from Foo Chow states considerable alarm prevails there owing to the fear that the French intend to bombard the town. AH the English ladies and children have embarked on board vessels in the port and most of the foreign vessals are leaving. A detachment of marines from tbe British men-of-war has been landed to afford proteclion to the English residents *n case of necessity .
