TWO FRESH CASES OF SMALL POX IN SYDNEY.

Sydney, Sept. 22. Two fresh cases of smallpox, one at Ultimo &nd the other in Woolloomooloo have been ascertained. The sufferers have been quarantined. Brisbane, Sept. 22. News reached here that Inspector Kaye of the police bus been murdered by the blacks at Woollgul in this Colony. Melbourne, Sept. 22. The case of sickness at Benalla is now definitely proved to be not smallpox. Sir Brvan O'Loghlen, Premier and Colonial Treasurer, introduced his financial statement in the Legislative Assembly to-day. He showed that tne levenue ol the last financial year, including annual railway recoup of £200,000, and Treasury Bills for £500,000, amounted to £5,686,000 ; i he expenditure, including- £388,000 balance from last year, amounted to £5,497,000. The actual deficit at the close of ihe financial year was £510,000, which it is necessary to meet this year. The Treasurer estimated the revenue for the present year Jit £-5,437,000, and he expenditure at £5,398,000, leaving: an anticipxstPd surplus of £31,000. No fresh taxation is (o be levied. A uew loan is to be raised of four millions, of which £2,500,000 will be expended on railways, £300,000 on schools, and a like amount on waterworks. The working railways last year returned a total profit of £750,000.
