Tuesday. January 24.

1. Mr Guinness to ask :—": — " Why the resolution passed on the 26th May, 1870, headed ' Monthly statement of receipts and expenditure to be published in the County Gazette,' has not been complied with." 2. Mr Bonar to ask : — " The Chairman what steps, if anj', have been taken to establish special settlements under the Westland Waste Lands Act 1870."

The Chairman to move — " That this Council confirm the action of the late Chairman, Conrad Hoos, Esq., in signing cheques on the County of Westland account since the Bth day of December last, for expenditure incurred." 4. The Chairman to move—" That the Council go into Committee to consider the mode of collecting the tolls on tl.e various roads of the County."

1 Mr Barff to move—" That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable that the Chairman of the County Council should for the future be elected by tbe rote of the people, and that a Select Committee be appointed to memorialise the Colonial Legislature on the subject, such Committee to consist of the Chairman, Mr Bonar, Mr Scanlan, and the mover, to report in ten days." 2. Mr Scanlan to move — " That advertisements be inserted in the Hokitika, Greymouth, and Dunedin papers, calling for tenders for a bi-monthly steam service between Hokitika and the southern Ports of the County."

3. Mr Button to move — " That no more honorarium be paid to CotancUlors." 4. Mr Robinson to move: — "That a Committee, consisting of Messrs Bonar, Button, Reid, and the mover, be appointed for the purpose of drawing up a petition to the General Assembly, pointing out the great injustice suffered by the County of Westland under the ' Payment of Provinces Act 1870,' and praying for the redress of the same."
