Sydney. The markets are quiet. Flour lias a lower tendency. The -wool sales slightly advanced. There have been larjre arrivals of sugar from Mauritius. Henry Arthur recently appointed Governor's private secretary, arrived in the Challenger, on the 6th. The Challenger sails for Wellington, on the arrival of the Squadron here. The Novelty at rived here from Auckland. The Keta sailed for Auckland aud the Southern Cross for Lytteltou. The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Newcastle from Dunedin. The Union, brig, from Dunedin, arrived at Hobart Town. A storm passed over the city on Thursday, which did much damage. The ketch Comet was sunk in the harbor. The elections are turning- out favorably for the Opposition. A very strong sectarian feeling is evoked. Dr Lang is going to England. Kennedy has been elected Mayor of Sydney.
