At the last Hospital Committee meeting, present — Messrs Aylnier (president), Malfroy, Hill, Cooper, Harris, Gaffnej r , Hutten, and Lewis. The minutes of tbe previous meeting were read and confirmed. The '* following accounts were pasted for payment: — Forsyth and Masters, £5 10s; R. Stevens, £l ; Falvey, 16s; Donnelly, £1 10s 6(1 ; Coop,-£l2. Receipts for the fortnight, including proceeds of lecture and concert. £23 14s. The secretary was instructed to wait on the manager of the Bank of New Zealand to request an overdraft to pay amount of cheques. Messrs Malfroy, Banks, aucl Hill were appoiuted House Committep for the ensuing months Resolved — "That tenders be called ftr supplies for the quarter eudingj^larch Si, 1 870, by two insertions in the \\*jest Coast 4 Times ; tenders to be sent in, addressed to the president, on or before Wednesday, 29th inst, at 7 p.m." " That the secretary tender the thanks of the committee to the Ross Glee Club, Mrs Bundersen, Mrs Tribe, and the Volunteers, for aid rendered in connection with the late benefit for the Hospital." The secretary was instructed to write to the County Chairman respecting subsidies, urging immediate remittance to meet the present quarter's accounts. Messrs Aylmer, IHU, Cooper, Malfroy, and Harris, were appointed a sub-committee to meet the deputation from llokitika, respecting payment for patients going from this district to the Hokitika Hospital. The meeting then adjenrned till the 29th inst.. On Friday morning, a poor fellow, named Charles Allen was found dead in his hut,- * at Donoghue's. It appears that as he did not appear at work as übiial upon tbe above-mentioned morning, some miners went to his hut arid fouud him. on his bed quite dead. An inque-t was held before Justin Aylnier, coroner, and a jury, of whom John M' berry was foumart, and from the evidence of several tyitnesse c , supporttd by tbat of Dr W. H. Hoskinf, who held a. post mo7-tem, the jury returned a verdict of ''D.ath from natural cause?, . viz., disease of the heart." The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, when about 358 persons followed his runtiins io their kst resting place. The funeral seivicc was delivered b}' the Rev. United Drainage Company's engine will be pumping on the 29th instant, and the Star and Hand of Hope companies are making some preparations. Some of the machinery for the Great Ross Extended ( 'ompany is now on the ground. The Mikonui Water Company's race has been duly registered. The Totara and Jones' Creek Amalgamated "Water Race Company have ju>»t completed a first-cla*s dam at Duffer's Gully.
