The ketch Jane Elkin, with a very full load of sawn timber, suitable for building and general purposes, sailed for Westport yesterday. She met with a favorable breeze after casting off from the steamer, and ere many hours was lost to view. The brigantine Aborigine finished digcharging her cargo to-day, about noon, and immediately afterwards commenced to take on board, her homeward-bound freight, which is sawn timber. On her present trip to the Coast the Aborigiue brought a very full cargo of mixed merchandise, some of it malt tanks, which much retarded discharging. However, her owners, as well as the master, have much cause to feel proud of the condition in which her cargo has been landed. She will sail for her head-quarters, it is thought, on Wednesday, and we wish her a smart run up, and quick return here. The- shipping telegraniß received yesterday are still silent respecting the movements of the s.s. Tararua. She arrived at Port Chalmers on the 11th inst., and surely must have left that port ere this. Indeed, we feel certain she has done so, and is now at Lytteldon, else she will not be able to keep hei engagement at this port on the 25th inst., when she is advertised to sail for Melbourne, with the English mail, gold, and passengers. The s.s. John Perm is expected here on or about the 28th met. She will have quick despatch here, and returns to Mauukau Harbor, with passengers for the Auckland goldfields. The s.s. Rangitoto, from Melbourne, is expected here to-day. Sbe wU Ibe dispatched immediately after her arrival for the usual rouud of Northern ports. Her first port of call after leaving tbis port is Wellington, and the passengers for Auckland will be transhipped into one of the New Zealand Steam Navigation Co.'s splendid steamers.
