Lyttelto" "as ic '- ive the port at midnight yesterday fo r Vad quarters, via the coast ports. "We arc glad to find that this comfortable boat is becoming a favorite on the coast. The telegrams were silent about the Tararua yesterday, but it it is expected that she -would leave Dunediu for Lyttelton last night. The completion of the Aborigine's discharging did not takanlace yesterday, as was expected ; she will, however, umsn to-day, about eleven o'clock. It is probable that she ■will load up with sawn timber for the return trip to Melbourne. The schooner Northern Light, from Melbourne to the Grey, was in the offing yesterday afternoon. The brigantine Ceres passed the port very early yesterday. She is bound from Melbourne to the Buller. The shipping in port were to-day flying their ensigns at half-mast high, in respect to Mr Balfour, Colonial Marine Engineer, who lost his life by the capsizing of a surf boat at Timaru. COMMERCIAL.
