OIR— We, the undersigned, electors of the Electoral District of Hokitika, respectfully request you to allow yourself to be placed in nomination as a candidate for the representation of the town in the County Council of Westland. Gentlemen — I cannot but feel gratified by the flattering compliment you pay me, in requesting me to become a candidate to represent the town of Hokitika in the Westland County Council, and I have great pleasure in acceding to your request. I am proud of having been one of the foremost in procuring for Westland the advantages of local government, and, if elected, you may depend upon my best exertijns to realise all the advantages that ought to accrue from it.
