RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before G. a. FitzGerald, Esq., 8.M.) Thursday, September 5.
Indecency. — Thomas Park, for this offence, was fined L 2, or to be imprisoned for four days in default of payment. Larceny. — Catherine Stewart was charged with stealing on the 30fch August from Samuel Williams a L2O note. The prisoner was, at the request of the police, remanded till the 6th instant. Bail to be taken : prisoner in LSO, and two sureties in L 25 each.
Vagrancy. — Thomas Barber was brought up on remand from the 4th inst. His Worship stated that he had looked over the Act carefully, and he did not believe he would be justified in sentencing the prisoner. There was not the slightest doubt that he was an infamous character, and therefore the police would do well to exercise a strict surveillance over him* His Worship accordingly discharged him.
CIVIL CASES.
Miller v. Shudeil. — Judgment for L 92 6s 9d, amount of a promissory note. Black v. Simson. — Por labor. Judgment for Ll9 with costs. The Court was then adjourned to eleven o'clock next day.
