Single Direct To Run In West Australia
PERTH, Dec. 25 (Recd. 7.30 pm) The champion New Zealand pacer Single Direct is a hot favourite for the £5OOO Jubilee Cup (two miles) to be run at Gloucester Park at the New Year. After an impressive trial which indicated that Single Direct had taken no harm from the long trip to Perth. His price was'shortened from 6 to 4 to eyen money. w The well-performed local pacer Royal Shadow, who will receive 24yds from the back-marker, Single Direct, is regarded as the greatest danger to the visitor. The other big event of the carnival is the Anniversary Handicap, the opening heats of which were run on Saturday. In one of these Single Direct’s half-sister, Petite Direct, mad? her first appearance. Driven by Kennerley, Petite Direct, who was seebnd favourite, ran fourth after getting a bad passage. It was a sound effort in the circumstances, and Petite Direct may yet qualify for the final. She was timed to do 2.12 i for 13 furlongs.
