N.Z. Filly Putoko Wins Well At Randwick
SYDNEY, Dec. 24.—Field Boy had an easy win in the Villiers Stakes at Randwick yesterday after failing at Rosehill in his previous run. Starting well, he was never worse than second and took the lead from Havachat at will after rounding the turn to win by two lengths. Conditions ot drizzling rain had not affected .the track. The win angered a large section of the crowd, which shouted as Field Boy returned to scale. The gelding, which has now won £12,530 in stakes, was bought as a yearling for 525gns.
Though scratched from Tuesday's Summer Cup because she was considered not good enough, the New Zealand filly Putoko won the December Handicap easily at long odds, beating a Summer Cup field. Smartly away, she was eased into third place early. She moved through at the turn and after that had the race in her keeping.
