AWAPUNI FIELDS AND SELECTIONS FOR TODAY

The double for the second day ot the Manawatu Racing Club’s meeting at Awapuni today will be run on the Louisson Memorial and the Awapuni Handicap. The track is certain to be holding after rain and the altered conditions may cause upsets in form, but the following may appeal:— Jumpers’ Flat.—Tudor Chief, Irresistible, Fpllow Suit. Trial Handicap. First division: Goldsmith, Blue Sky. Second division: Silver Cat, Croupier’s Song. Himatangi Handicap. Aureomycin, Broie Martia, Persian Gulf. Awapuni Inquiries A lengthy inquiry, one of several during the day, was held after the fifth race at Awapuni on Saturday, following a protest by V. J. Sellars, rider of Flying Cash, on the grounds of interference. Sellars claimed that J. Anderson, who rode Military Chief, had grabbed hold of his leg just after entering the straight. Military Chief had finished first, half a head in front of Flying Cash. The inquiry was. concluded after the last race, the committee finding that the interference had occurred and six months' suspension was imposed on Anderson. Flying Cash was placed first and Military Chief second. After the Gillies Hack Handicap first division W. J. Broughton, rider of Emotional, was fined £l5 for causing interference to other horses.
