King And Queen Guests Of Palace Staff At Annual Dance

LONDON, Dec. 20.—The King and Queen joined seamstresses and kitchen girls, footmen and pages, office workers and cleaners in dancing at Buckingham Palace when Their Majesties were the guests of their staff at the annual dance organised by the Royal household social club.

There were 500 dancers, including 250 of the staff and 250 guests. Shaded gold lamps and crystal chandeliers lit the ballroom, which was decorated with masses of pink azaleas. The King and Queen, after their •partners had been presented to them by the palace telephonist, took part in rumbas, sambas, barn dances and eightsome reels. Most of the men wore dinner jackets and all the women had long dance gowns..—N.Z.P.A. Special.
