Australia To Terminate State Of War With Germany
SYDNEY, Dec 21 (Recd 11.30 pm).— The Minister of External Affairs (Mr. Spender) announced today that the Australian Government intended, on a date to be determined, to terminate a state of war with Germany.
He recalled that the Governments of France, the United Kingdom and United States had already announced their intention ot taking similar' action.
The Minister made it clear that the termination of a state of war would be quite distinct from any final settlement that might be considered with Germany, and it would in no way effect Germany’s obligations in respect of sueh matters as debts and claims. The main purpose of this action was to restore normal relations with the German Federal Republic and bring it into closer association with the free world.
