MARTON CADETS WIN ‘TRESS” RIFLE SHOOTING SHIELD
CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA). —The Marton District High School won “The Press” Challenge Shield rifle shooting competition for the second year In succession with the outstanding average score of 94 0, according to advice received from Army Headquarters. They also won the cash award of £lO. The South Island Shield was won for the third year in succession by the Marlborough College cadets, who obtained an average score of 88-8. The competition this year attracted 77 entries, an improvement on the entries over the last three years. The averages obtained were: 80 points and over, 23 teams; 70-80 points, 34 '.earns, 60-70, eight teams; under 60, four teams; total 69 teams. Eight other teams entered and fired two practices only.
