Use Of Obscene Language Brings £l0 Fine
The use of obscene language in Ridgway Street, on Monday night cost Peter Matekino Poari, married, of ’ Putiki, £lO when he appeared in the | Magistrates Court yesterday. On a charge of drunkenness he was convicted and discharged. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Mr S. S. Preston, S.M., told Poari that if he had not undertaken to take out a prohibition order ho would have! been given a short term of imprison-1 ment. Senior-Sergeant F. Culloty said I Poari ordered 8s worth of fish and' chips al a restaurant and then, when it was brought to him, offered 2s in payment, saying he would pay the' remaining 6s later. Poari used the language complained of when the order was taken away. /
