SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mrs M. L. Morrison, Wanganui, was a recent visitor to Hamilton. Miss Pickford, of the Girls’ College staff, is spending the holidays at her home in Marton. Miss Isabel Dunlop, Somme Parade, has returned from a visit to Hamilton. Miss Audrey Bates, of the Laff of the Taumarunui School, is at present visiting her home in Wanganui. Later she will visit the South Island. Miss Mary Keen, of Invercargill, is visiting Wanganui for a few days as the guest of Mrs J. G. Bates, Putikl. She will leave on Friday to continue her holiday in Auckland. Miss L. B. Keith, of the staff of the Wanganui East School, has been granted leave of absence and leave* this week, accompanied by her mother, on a trip to England and Northern Ireland. They leave Wan ganui today and will be passengers on the Rangitoto, sailing on Friday. Army Award for Woman. The highest Salvation Army award, the Order of the Founder, has been conferred on Mrs J. Thompson, Auckland, for long and devoted service, states a P.A. message. Mrs Thompson became a Salvationist 12 days aftei the Salvation Army began in Auckland in April, 1883. She has been a young people’s worker and hospital visitor for 50 years. To gather children for instruction she systematically visited the poorer areas and provided clothes.
