WANGANUI HORSES FOR AWAPUNI ENGAGEMENTS
Several horses with engagements at Awapuni on Saturday were responsible for pleasing efforts on the Wan- • ganui tracks yesterday morning, but I thick fog prevented a couple of the I early gallops from being timed. The ' course proper was open for fast work, I with the poles out about 25ft. I Eulo and Editor went half a mile • together, hitting out well. I Wave Crest was brought home by Hamilton over the last half of a mile and was doing it nicely. Paddy Joe (Chote) and Subject (C. Wright) finished cn terms at the end of five furlongs in 1.3 4-5. Paddy Joe will be all the better for a race or two. Subject is commencing to show promise. Aberdeen went seven furlongs but was not timed. However, he was hitting out freely. j Parlous went five furlongs at threequarter pace and sprinted home up the straight. He appears to be in good order for early engagements. Background and a Beau Vite filly in K. Webster's stable skipped over two furlongs in 24 1-5, the firstnamed finishing clear. j Mr Justice easily beat Gathered ; Gold over three furlongs in 37 4-5. Flying Cash was doing it better . than Red Ruler at the finish of a mile 'in 1.49. ; Count Minerva shaded a Felous • filly over five furlongs in 1.4 2-5. I Garvagh (N. McKinnon) and Al- ; ready (W. Lett) took 1.4 4-5 tor live i furlongs, Garvagh finishing half a length in front. | Good Record find Arigead went out to travel six furlongs, the first four at three-quarter pace, but they ran, the first two in 25 and were eased up for the remainder of the journey. I Black Ash and Regal Right took ! 25 for their sprint home from the j two-furlong post. I Green Rushes (Chote) was very wide out when she ran three furlongs in 37 3-5. Skipalong and Manitou came home over the last two furlongs in 26 to complete five in 1.6 2-5. Brown Jester (W. Reid) jumped brilliantly in a school over the pony hurdles.
