CHANGING RIVER MAKES PRESENT OF RAGWORT TO RANGITIKEI COUNTY

MARTON, Last Night (SR).—As a result of the Rangitikei River changing its course three miles above the Onepuhi bridge, a large area of land which previously was in the Oroua County is now on the Rangitikei side of the river. This was stated by the noxious weeds inspector, Mr J. Robinson, when reporting to the Rangitikei County Council at its monthly meeting today.

The inspector added that unfoA/n--ately this land was heavily infested with ragwort. It was his intention to have the area sprayed as scon as men were available. The principal object was the prevention of clean land from being infested.

COUNTY HOLIDAYS. The Rangitikei County Council offices at Marton will be closed from December 23 to January 14 inclusive. This was sta> 1 at the monthly meeting of the council yesterday. The first meeting of the county in the New Year will be held on Thursday, February 8. » PERSONAL. Mr F. Jones, a member of the Marton clerical staff of the Rangitikei County Council for '-he past 14 years, who was recently married, was made a presentation by the chairman, Cr. V. Smith, at the close of the monthly meeting of the council yesterday.
