Defence Officials' Warning U.S. Should Rot Allow Itself To Be Dragged Into War With China

NEW YORK. Dee. 2 (Reed. 9.30 p.in.).—Senior United States defence officials told the House of Representatives Military Appropriations Committee in Washington that the United States must not in any circumstances allow itself to be dragged into a full-scale war with China.

Representative George Mahon, chairman of the committee, said today that defence officials also told the committee that, the Russians wanted the United States to be involved in a war with China.

Mr John Foster Dulles, an American delegate to the United Nations, said today that he would ask the Political Committee on Monday to “clear its decks” of Communist charges against the United States so that it could be ready to deal with the real issue before the world—the full-scale entry of Chinese Communists into the Korean war. "The United Nations is having to cope with a diplomatic offensive deliberately timed to coincide with the military offensive in Korea. Soviet and Chinese Communists are shouting ‘aggression’ at us at the precise time they are committing aggression. The United Nations should, and I believe, will stop political aggression and give support to the youth of the many nations who are Riving their lives trying to stop military aggtession.” The Associated Pless says an ambassador from one country which has made a substantia} contribution to the fighting forces in Korea predicted that the Assembly will be asked to condemn the Chinese Communists as aggressors and request them to withdraw. If they fail to comply, the Assembly would be asked to recommend that United Nations members use their military units to enforce the compliance. Under this second resolution General MacArthur would have implied authority to take whatever steps he considered necessary to end the Chinese Communist menace to United Nations forces In Korea.
