TWO AND A-HALF-YEAR-OLD CHILD DROWNED IN WELL AT KARIOI
NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night (PA) A child aged two and a-half years, Vernon Anthony Thompson, was drowned in a well at his home at Karioi yesterday. The son of Mr and Mrs J. Thompson, he was found floating face downwards in the well, which contained two and a-half feet of water. He had been seen by his father about ten minutes previously playing in the house, and was discovered in the well, which is about 20 yards from the the house, by a guest, Miss R. Bell. Artificial respiration, applied for 30 minutes, was unavailing.
