Dr. D. L. Sinclair, who is a patient in the Huia Street Hospital. Taihape, is reported to be making satisfactory progress toward recovery.
Mr Rex Balstad, of Pahiatua, a member of K Force, who lost both his legs as the result of a train accident at Waiouru recently, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. He is a patient in the Taihape Hospital. Dr. W. I. Taylor, An Auckland scientist, has been awarded an Imperial Chemical Industries Fellowship to work at Cambridge University wi’h Professor A. R. Todd. Mr. J. Abel, of Wellington, has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Garment Manufacturers’ Feder tion and Mr. H. Chapman, of Dunedin, vice-president. Mr A. G. Horsley, LI.M., barrister and solicitor, Wanganui, has been appointed a notary public. He was formally sworn in recently before Mr Justice Hay in the Supreme Court at Wanganui. Mr. Thomas Brindle died suddenly at. his homo in Otaki early yesterday morning. Mr. Brindle was a member of the Legislative Council fo-? 14 years and the Wellington City Council for eight years.—P.
