SYDNEY, Nov. 12 (Recd. 6.30 pm) The former New Zealander Thimble stole the Canterbury Park Handicap at Canterbury by jumping to the front at the outset, and staving off later challenges. Result :
Canterbury Handicap.—Thimble 7.6 (Selkrig) 1, Steady 8.5 (Podmore) 2, Phil Tress 8.1 (Deeley) 3. Seven started. Three lengths; 2* lengths. Time 2.21. Betting: 5 to 1 Thimble, 16 to 1 Steady, 2 to 1 on Phil Tress.
