Inquiries At Otaki
Several inquiries were instituted by the chief stipendiary steward, Mr B. N. Sandilands, at the Otaki Maori Racing Club’s summer meeting on , Saturday, but no penalties were exacted as a result. I Following the concluding event a lengthy inquiry was held into allegations that the rider of the winner, Bambton (S. Bryce) had caused ini’terference to the runner-up, Super Duke (A. C. Messervy) on the home turn. After evidence had been taken it was decided that the pay-out be made in accordance with the judge s placings. O. Mclnally. rider of the winner, Roka, in the Kuku Maiden Race, was admonished for changing course twice in the straight. Imperial was checked at the halfmile in the Ling Memorial Handicap. His rider, G. R. Tattersall, stated that the incident was caused through the horse hanging out along the back stretch, when he appeared beaten. V. Coley, apprentice rider of Land Agent in the Kuao Stakes, caused interference to Noble Prince. The chief stipendiary steward requested the patrol steward to give the lad advice on how to control his mount.
