Could Keep People Sober

AUCKLAND, Nov. 7, (PA)-The belief that an Act of Parliament could keep people sober was expressed at the Presbyterian General Assembly by Mr. H. W» Milner, of the New Zealand Alliance for temperance education and the abolition of the liquor traffic. He said that the six o’clock closing of hotel bars had kept a lot of people sober who otherwise would have been drawn into drinking habits. Mr. Milner sought the opinion of tlie Church on the question of a three issue ballot paper for tLs liquor poll at the General Election. He said people were interested in the question of trust control and the alliance was now in a dilemma as to whether this should be included in the ballot paper. “We want unity of purpose and singleness of heart on this question, he added.
