K Force Is To Be Sent To Korea Troops Are Told

WELLINGTON, Yesterday (PA).— “It is now definite that the K-Force will sail for Korea,” said the Prime Minister (Mr. Holland) today. He said that the Government had been in the closest consultation with the unified command of the Unite! Nations, and the Unucd States, United Kingdom and Australian Governments, and it was now quite clear that lhe New Zealand f.MCe was required. “It will go forward to Korea in accordance with the arrangements made with the unified command,” said Mr. Holland. It was the earnest hope of the Government that the situation in Korea could be cleared up quickly and that the Chinese Communists could be constrained to comply with the resolution of the Security Council to refrain from assisting aganst South Korea, said the Prime Minister. He added that preparations for #he departure of the K-Force had been going forward for some time, and he felt confident that the Government could rely upon the full assistance and support of all concerned in the speedy completion of the arrangements for the departure of the force from New Zealand. The K-Force will have its own postal staff and separate post office overseas. It will be known as N.Z.A.P.O. 444. The office will be in the charge of Sapper F. Service, who was in N.Z.A.P.O. 22 in Japan. He will have one assistant.
