Former Wanganui Tech. College Boy Wins Chemistry Award
Mr. C. N. Hooker, a Wanganui Technical College old boy, has won the Institute of Chemistry’s award for the most outstanding student doing stage I chemistry at Victoria University College, Wellington. Son of Mr. and Mrs H. E. Hooker, of Kiwi Street, Wanganui East, he came from the Ohakune District High School to the Technical College where he was a pupil in 1948 and 1949. Last year Mr. Hooker obtained 93 per cent, in chemistry in the University science bursary. He gained 87 per cent, in the samp subject in the Junior University Scholarship examination—the highest of any competitor. For his high marks in these examinations Mr Hooker secured a Department, of Scientific and Industrial Research award in chemistry.
